Walker promoted to Gwinnett, Aro to M-Braves and Alexander activated from IL and sent to Florida

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves before tonight's 6:35 pm game against Biloxi, which affects the Mississippi Braves roster. RHP Jeremy Walker  has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett from Mississippi, RHP Jonathan Aro  has been transferred to Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett, and INF CJ Alexander  has been activated

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves before tonight's 6:35 pm game against Biloxi, which affects the Mississippi Braves roster. RHP Jeremy Walker  has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett from Mississippi, RHP Jonathan Aro  has been transferred to Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett, and INF CJ Alexander  has been activated from Mississippi's Injured List and transferred to High-A Florida. 

Walker, 24, a Gardner-Webb product and No. 30 overall prospect for the Braves appeared in 21 games for Mississippi this season where he was 6-for-6 in save opportunities, his first six saves of his career. Walker closed out the June 28 no-hitter where he recorded two strikeouts. 

This season Walker has a 1-6 record with a 2.45 ERA (58.2 IP) allowing 16 earned runs on 56 hits. Walker has only walked five batters while striking out 57 keeping opposing hitters to a .245 average. 

Last season Walker started in one game for Triple-A Gwinnett where he pitched eight complete innings, striking out six and only giving up one walk and three hits. Walker was named Mid-Season All-Star in the Southern League this season.

Aro, 28, from La Vega, Dominican Republic, has been appeared in games this season for Triple-A Gwinnett, Double-A Mississippi, and Rookie-Danville this season. Aro's last appearance was on July 3 against Norfolk where he allowed two runs on four hits (0.1 IP). 

This season Aro has a 6-0 record between Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi with a 3.30 ERA (43.2 IP) allowing 16 earned runs off 40 hits. Opposing batters hit .241 against Aro who has struck out 30 while only walking six. 

Aro was activated to the M-Braves roster on April 6 from Rookie-Danville, and was placed on the 7-day injured list on April 20 and then activated on April 29. Aro was then transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett on May 4 making one appearance at Durham, then transferred back to Mississippi on May 7. Aro was assigned to Danville's roster on May 25 and then transferred to Gwinnett on May 26 but then went back on Danville's roster on May 27. Aro was later added back to Gwinnett's roster on May 30 and then was assigned to Mississippi on June 3 where he made three appearances before being promoted back to Gwinnett on June 15. He was placed on Gwinnett's Injured List on June 26 and was reactivated on July 3. 

Alexander, 22, from Merrillville, Indiana, was placed on Mississippi's 7-day injured list on April 18 with an elbow injury. 

Before his injury, Alexander played in 11 games where he hit .143 with four hits, one double, and four RBI. Last season at Florida Alexander hit .325 with five runs, 26 hits, five doubles, one triple, one home run, and seven RBIs. 

The Atlanta Braves selected Alexander in the 20th round of the 2018 draft out of the State College of Florida. Alexander was promoted to Danville from GCL on July 1, 2018, and then promoted to High-A Florida on August 10, 2018. Alexander began the 2019 season with the M-Braves. 

The M-Braves will try to end the season high six-game skid on Friday night at Trustmark Park. LHP Tucker Davidson (1-3, 2.00) leads the league in ERA and will start for Mississippi against Biloxi RHP Drew Rasmussen (1-2, 4.65) for the Shuckers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm with coverage beginning at 6:20 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio and MiLB.tv (subscription required).
