Wednesday's Stone Crabs-Hammerheads game suspended

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (August 9, 2017) - Wednesday's game between the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the Jupiter Hammerheads at Charlotte Sports Park was suspended in the seventh inning due to severe weather with the score tied at one.
The game will be completed during the teams' series in Jupiter August 14-17.  
Ben Meyer turned in six quality innings for Jupiter, allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight. Michael Velasquez worked 4.2 innings of relief for Charlotte, allowing one run on three hits while fanning five.
With the game tied in the top of the fifth, Jupiter center fielder Corey Bird doubled to right with one out. Two batters later, Colby Lusignan stroked a double to the gap to give the Hammerheads a 1-0 lead.
With the same score in the bottom of the sixth, Charlotte got back-to-back singles from Jonah Heim and Thomas Milone to start the inning. After two strikeouts, David Olmedo-Barrera dropped a single to center to tie the game at one.
The Stone Crabs will head to Bradenton Thursday to start a four-game series with the Marauders. Brock Burke (2-5, 5.97) makes the start for Charlotte against Logan Sendelbach (2-4, 3.41) of Bradenton. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
