Whitecaps and Captains Cancelled

EASTLAKE, OH - Sunday's scheduled series finale between the West Michigan Whitecaps and Lake County Captains at Classic Park has been cancelled, the Captains announced after a 45-minute rain delay.

Due to the inclement weather and unplayable field conditions in the suburban Cleveland area, the decision was made to cancel the final game of the four-game series due to Sunday being the last scheduled contest between the two teams during the 2017 first half. The Whitecaps took the final two games of this rain-shortened three-game set with a 6-2 victory over the Captains Saturday night.
The final two games of this series were dominated by the 'Caps dynamic duo of starting pitchers Austin Sodders and Greg Soto, who have thrown to a combined record of 9-0 with 95 strikeouts and a 0.99 ERA. Sodders' 0.73 earned run average currently ranks second in the Midwest League among qualified pitchers. The Whitecaps pitching staff has only allowed two runs since their 4-3 loss to the Captains Thursday night.
