Three members of the 2021 Durham Bulls earned Triple-A East All-Star honors, as announced today by Minor League Baseball. Bulls skipper Brady Williams was named Co-Manager of the Year along with Buffalo’s Casey Candaele, while outfielders Josh Lowe and Vidal Brujan were also named All-Stars at their positions.

Williams in his second season with Durham led the Bulls to a Triple-A best 86-44 record, winning the Triple-A East League, as well as the Triple-A Final Stretch postseason tournament. The .662 win percentage was best over a full season in Bulls franchise history. In two seasons with the Bulls, Williams has accumulated a 161-108 managerial record (.599).

It is the first time a Bulls manager has earned post-season league Manager of the Year honors since Charlie Montoyo earned International League Manager of the Year honors in 2013. Williams in 12 career managerial seasons has compiling a 858-735 record.

Lowe in 111 games with Durham hit .291 (117-402), adding 76 runs, 28 doubles, two triples, 22 homers and 78 RBI, and was a perfect 26-for-26 in stolen base attempts. The Rays’ Minor League Player of the Year finished 2021 ranked among the top ten in the Triple-A East in most offensive categories, including tied for second in extra-base hits (52), third in runs scored and RBI, tied for fourth in total bases (215) and tied for fifth in home runs, doubles, and walks (61). Lowe also became the first Bulls player since 2007 to record 20 home runs and 20 steals in a season.

It is the first time Lowe has received a league’s postseason All-Star honor. He was selected by Tampa Bay as the 13th overall selection of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Pope High School in Georgia. Lowe made his Major League debut earlier this year with the Rays on September 8.

Brujan compiled a .262 average (102-389) in 103 contests with the Bulls, adding 77 runs, 31 doubles, one triple, 12 homers and 56 RBI, in addition to 44 steals in 50 attempts. He finished the 2021 campaign pacing all Triple-A players in steals, in addition to ranking tied for first with teammate Nathan Lukes in doubles, in addition to ranking second in runs scored. Brujan became the first Bulls player since 2008 to record 40 steals or more in a season.

2021 marks the second year Brujan has received league postseason accolades after being named to the Midwest League’s Post-Season squad in 2018. The 23-year-old was signed by Tampa Bay as an international free agent on October 17, 2014. Brujan made his Major League debut with the Rays earlier this year on July 7.

Durham begins their 2022 campaign on the road in Nashville on Tuesday, April 5 before returning to the DBAP for a five-game series versus the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp starting on Tuesday, April 12.
