WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 8, 2022) — The Brooklyn Cyclones shutout the Winston-Salem Dash 6-0 to win their third straight game of the series.

The Cyclones jumped on Dash starter Jonah Scolaro right away, in the top of the first inning. Leadoff hitter Matt Rudick singled, before later swiping second base. JT Schwartz worked a walk, before Carlos Rincon drove in both runners on a double to straightaway center field. A wild pitch pushed Rincon to third base, and he was able to score on a single by Stanley Consuegra to make it 3-0 Brooklyn. That prompted an early hook for Scolaro, although the Dash escaped the inning without any further damage.

For Brooklyn, they got a gem from the Mets #12 prospect Dominic Hamel. The right-hander allowed a pair of base runners in both the first and second innings, but no runs crossed. Taishi Nakawake opened the bottom of the third with a single, but Hamel struck out the next three hitters in the inning. Hamel then really got in a groove, retiring the next nine batters he faced before a leadoff double in the top of the seventh inning. But Hamel sent down the next three Dash batters, which ended his night after seven shutout frames. Dominic Hamel punched out eight batters and walked just one man in a dominant performance.

In the top of the eighth, Brooklyn added two more runs on RBI knocks from Shervyen Newton and Matt Rudick to push their lead to 5-0. Consuegra pushed one more run across in the ninth, as the Cyclones won 6-0. Hamel got the victory, while Scolaro took the loss for Winston-Salem.
