GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers defeated the Peoria Chiefs 7-2 on Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Brice Turang and David Fry continued their hot hitting and Aaron Ashby was sharp over 6-2/3 innings for the Rattlers.
Wisconsin (21-23) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Turang started the inning with a single. Fry doubled to left with one out to put runners on second and third. Jesús Lujano sent a grounder to first and the Chiefs elected to come home with the throw, but Turang slid in under the high throw and the Rattlers had a 1-0 lead.

LG Castillo followed with a sacrifice fly to left to score Fry and the Rattlers were up 2-0.

The Chiefs (19-26) scored a run in the top of the fourth inning against Ashby. Brady Whalen's high pop-up to shallow right-center dropped in for a double. Malcom Nunez drove him in with a two-out single.

Peoria had a chance to tie the game in the top of the fifth. Wadye Ynfante tripled off the wall in center with one out, but Ashby stranded him there by retiring the next two batters to maintain the one-run lead.

The offense rewarded Ashby's efforts in the top of the fifth by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth to open up a 6-1 lead.

A two-base error, a walk, and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with one out. Turang singled to drive in the first run of the inning.

Connor McVey pushed a bunt single up the first base line for a single to score the second run and an error on the play let Turang score all the way from first while McVey raced around to third. Fry capped the inning with an RBI single and the Rattlers were up by five runs.

Ashby worked into the seventh inning and struck out seven while walking one and allowing one hit. He left the game with two outs in the seventh and a runner at first.

Wisconsin added a run in the bottom of the seventh as McVey grounded into a double play with runners at the corners. The 4-3 twin killing recorded two outs, but Korry Howell scored from third for a final insurance run.

Brendan Donovan accounted for the final run of the game when he homered off Wisconsin reliever Victor Casta
ñeda in the eighth inning.

Tyler Gillies closed out the win with a 1-2-3 inning.

Fry's 3-for-4 night extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Turang matched his professional single-game high for hits with four and moved his own hitting streak to eleven games. Turang also pushed his on-base streak to 17 games with his performance on Wednesday night.

The final game of the series is Thursday morning. Reese Olson (1-2, 5.70) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Peoria has named Kyle Leahy (1-4, 4.97) as their starter. Game time is 11:05am.
