PAPILLION, Neb. -- After hitting four home runs, including a grand slam, in a six-game span, Storm Chasers INF Bobby Witt Jr. was named Triple-A East Player of the Week for Aug. 2-8 on Monday by Minor League Baseball.

In six games against the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park, Witt Jr. went 8-for-27 (.296) with two doubles, four home runs, 11 RBIs, eight runs scored, and one stolen base. He started the week with a three-run homer in the 11th inning of the Chasers' 11-inning win on Tuesday, went 3-for-5 with a solo homer on Wednesday, hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning on Friday, and tied a career-high with five RBIs in Omaha's win on Saturday, a game that included his first career grand slam.

The 21-year-old's four home runs in the last six games give him seven at the Triple-A level and 23 total home runs this season, a mark that's tied for fourth in all of Minor League Baseball. In 18 games since joining the Storm Chasers on July 20, Witt Jr., the No. 3 prospect in baseball and the top prospect in the Royals' organization according to Baseball America, is batting .293/.348/.622 with five doubles, seven home runs, 16 RBIs, 18 runs scored, and three stolen bases.

Witt Jr. is the second Storm Chaser to earn Triple-A East Player of the Week honors, joining INF/OF Ryan O'Hearn, who was named Triple-A East Player of the Week for June 7-13 and was subsequently named Triple-A East Player of the Month in June. RHP Jackson Kowar was named Triple-A East Pitcher of the Month in May.

The Storm Chasers return to Werner Park on Tuesday to begin a two-week homestand with the first game of a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs (CHC). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT and coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. CT with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
