Righty Went 4-0 with 2.78 ERA in Five June Starts

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Charlotte Knights right-handed pitcher Mike Wright, who posted a 4-0 record with a 2.78 ERA in five starts last month, was named as the Triple-A East Pitcher of the Month for June. Wright won his first three starts in the month and pitched at least seven inning in two of his five starts in June.

Overall this season, Wright is 5-1 with a 2.77 ERA in nine starts (55.1 innings pitched) with the Knights. The 31-year-old righty is among the Triple-A East leaders in a number of categories. He is currently first in ERA, tied for second in strikeouts (58), second in batting average against (.190), second in WHIP (0.90) and third in IP (55.1).

A product of East Carolina University, Wright signed with the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on December 24, 2020. He spent the 2020 season with the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball League and helped lead the club to the first KBO Championship in franchise history. He was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the third round of the June 2011 First-Year Player Draft.
