Surprise 9, Scottsdale 7
As a whirlwind debut season comes to a close for Austin Wells, he can be forgiven for wanting it to go on a little bit longer.

The No. 6 Yankees prospect doubled twice, singled and drove in four runs to help the Saguaros rally from an early 4-0 deficit on Tuesday afternoon. Wells tallied his first RBI on a double in the fourth and plated two more with his second two-bagger an inning later. The 22-year-old backstop matched his AFL high by singling in his fourth run of the afternoon to cap Surprise's scoring in the sixth.

Wells has hit safely in five of his last six games to raise his average back up over the .300 mark in AFL action. Overall, the Las Vegas native is batting .305/.417/.508 with eight extra-base hits and 16 RBIs, eighth-best on the circuit. His impressive Fall League has been a carryover from the regular season, his first in pro ball.

The 28th overall pick in the 2020 Draft spent the majority of the year with Low-A Tampa. Wells' production earned a promotion to High-A Hudson Valley for the final six weeks of the season. A hot September left the University of Arizona product with a .264/.390/.476 slash line, 44 extra-base hits, 76 RBIs and 71 walks in 103 games.

Ezequiel Duran (TEX 7) homered for the second consecutive day. Elijah Dunham (NYY 24) plated a pair while Jackson Cluff (WAS 19) and Nathan Eaton (Royals) tallied two hits and an RBI apiece.

Evan Lee (WAS 21) struck out three and allowed one hit and a walk in two scoreless innings of relief.

Matt Wallner (MIN 14) paced Scottsdale's offense with three hits, including a two-run homer in the ninth, his sixth Fall League jack. Marco Luciano (MLB 5) helped the Scorpions jump on top with a two-run blast. His third long ball measured 411 feet and left the bat at 106 mph. The top Giants prospect had not gone deep since leaving the yard twice on Oct. 19.

Triston Casas (MLB 18) walked three times, scored two runs and singled twice. The second-ranked Red Sox prospect is batting .373, second in the league. More »

Arizona prospect Dominic Canzone but he has put himself on the map with a tremendous AFL campaign. The 24-year-old homered for the second straight day and the third time in four games while falling a triple shy of the cycle in the Rafters' win.

Canzone, who went deep 14 times this season across two Minor League levels, ripped the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the first 432 feet at 110.6 mph. The Ohio State product added an RBI single in the second and doubled leading off the fifth, but his attempt at a cycle fell short when he struck out in the eighth.

Canzone has hit safely in eight of 10 games this month, including consecutive three-hit affairs. The Cleveland native is batting .349/.431/.556 with seven extra-base hits and 15 RBIs.

Brett Baty (MLB 45) singled and drove in three runs. The second-ranked Mets prospect has seven RBIs in his last three games.

Matt Dennis (Rockies) and Connor Grey (Mets) combined to strike out seven over six scoreless innings to spearhead Salt River's shutout.

Yolbert Sanchez (CWS 15) singled twice for two of Glendale's four hits. More »

Roansy Contreras has been getting stronger as the fall season winds down. The Pirates' No. 6 prospect struck out eight and allowed an unearned run in four innings to pick up his second win in three starts. Contreras surrendered three singles and a walk during his 66-pitch effort, which dropped his ERA to 3.21.

The 6-foot, 175-pound righty with a mid-90s fastball recorded four of his final six outs via the strikeout, giving him 18 in 14 innings. Opponents are batting just .196 against Contreras in five starts.

A pair of Phillies prospects did most of the damage for the Javelinas, combining to plate four of their five runs. Bryson Stott (MLB 97), who has slowed after a torrid start, extended his hitting streak to four games with a two-run double and also drew a walk. Philadelphia's No. 2 prospect is batting .325/.458/.500 and is tied for the AFL lead with 26 RBIs while topping the circuit with 22 free passes.
