PULASKI, VA - After a 90 minute rain delay that pushed first pitch from 7:00 to 8:30, game two started with Johnson City taking an early lead. Pulaski stormed back to win 12-6 against the Cardinals to take game two.
Dionis Zamora started the game for the Cardinals, his sixth of the season. Zamora had a very solid start for the Cardinals. He went 5.2 strong innings, his longest outing of the season, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and notched six strikeouts.
The Cardinals started the scoring in the second. Leandro Cedeno hit a towering solo blast to left field, his seventh of the season to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.
Johnson City took a commanding lead in the top of the fourth when they put three on the board. The Cardinals started the inning with three walks in-a-row to Nolan Gorman , Donivan Williams , and Dariel Gomez . Leandro Cedeno hit an RBI double to make the score 2-0. Luis Flores then hit an RBI single to increase the lead 3-0 for the Cardinals. Moises Castillo added one more to make the score 4-0.
The Yankees were shut out until the bottom of the sixth. The Cardinals got the first two outs in the inning quickly. However, the final out was very elusive as the Yankees batted around that inning and scored nine runs on five hits and two errors to take a 9-4 lead.
The Cardinals followed up with two runs in the top of the seventh. Brian Sanchez singled but was thrown out going to second. Brandon Riley followed up with a single and Nolan Gorman walked. With two outs, Dariel Gomez hit a two-RBI double to cut the lead 9-6.
Pulaski added three runs in the bottom of the seventh and that is where the scoring would end at 12-6.
The Cardinals used three pitchers after Dionis Zamora. Juan Alvarez was first out of the bullpen. Alvarez took his first loss of the season and did not record an out. He walked three and gave up three runs before being replaced. Oneiver Diaz , the second pitcher used, blew his first save of the season. Diaz threw one inning, giving up five hits and six unearned runs.  Jake Sylvester was the final pitcher used for the Cardinals. He went 1.1 innings, only giving up one hit and notching a strikeout.
The Cardinals conclude their six game road trip tomorrow in the finale against Pulaski. They return home Friday for a three game series against the Danville Braves.
