Yarnall HR, 3 RBI Lead Raptors Win

Ogden Raptors first baseman Nick Yarnall continued his hot hitting Friday night in the second game at Missoula, leading the Raptors to an 8-2 win with his three runs batted in.
Yarnall stepped to the plate in the first inning and saw Jeren Kendall steal both second and third bases, then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Kendall across the plate. In the fourth Yarnall launched his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot to right-center, which put Ogden back on top. The left-handed slugger capped the scoring in the ninth with a two-out single through the infield for an insurance run. Yarnall also made multiple stretches and scoops of throws and batted balls at first base to help out his pitchers.
Starling Heredia got the scoring started in the first, hitting a bomb over the left-field fence for his fourth round tripper of the season just before Kendall reached and scored on the Yarnall sacrifice fly.
Missoula tied the score with an RBI groundout and single in the third, but the Yarnall homer put Ogden back in front.
In the top of the fifth, two Raptors hits, a walk and three Missoula errors combined to bring in three runs and give the visitors a cushion. Another run crossed in the eighth when Gersel Pitre doubled and Brock Carpenter singled on the infield, with Pitre wheeling around from second to score ahead of the throw.
Three Raptors relievers shut out the Osprey after Ogden starter Carlos Felix gave up the two runs in the third. Devin Hemmerich earned his first professional victory with two scoreless frames and three strikeouts, Justin Hoyt put up goose eggs in the seventh and eighth with the help of a double play, and Miguel Ureña finished the game by working around a walk in the ninth.
Despite the win, Ogden remains six games back of the Orem Owlz with seven to play in the first half after Orem came back to beat Great Falls, 3-2.
