MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds began a six-game road trip with an 8-6 loss to the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday night.
Designated hitter Juan Yepez and second baseman Cesar Prieto each clubbed a home run in the loss. For Yepez, it was his first Triple-A home run since mid-June, a solo shot in the top of the second inning. Prieto’s first home run in the St. Louis Cardinals organization came as a three-run shot in the top of the eighth to make it a three-run game.
Third baseman Nick Dunn, left fielder Matt Koperniak, catcher Ivan Herrera and Prieto each recorded multi-hit efforts on Tuesday. Dunn recorded the lone three-hit night and added an RBI.
Casey Lawrence (4-8) allowed six runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out one in 4.0 innings pitched. The loss was the right-handed pitcher’s first with Memphis in his third start with the club.
