Zac Veen Named Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player; Charlie Condon Garners Top MLB Prospect Honors in Pacific Coast League
Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Zac Veen has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) for the 2026 season, it was announced tonight by Major League Baseball. Veen was also named to the PCL’s Post-Season All-Star team along with first baseman Charlie Condon and outfielder Sterlin Thompson.
Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Zac Veen has been named the Most Valuable Player of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) for the 2026 season, it was announced tonight by Major League Baseball.
Veen was also named to the PCL’s Post-Season All-Star team along with first baseman Charlie Condon and outfielder Sterlin Thompson. Condon was announced as the PCL’s Top MLB Prospect.
Veen becomes the third Isotopes player to win league MVP honors, along with Joc Pederson (2014) and Josh Fuentes (2018).
Prior to being called up by the Rockies on August 11, Veen played in 100 games and compiled a .327/.402/.635 slashline with 33 doubles, eight triples, 24 homers, 87 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Despite not playing in a PCL game after August 9, Veen ended the Triple-A season leading the league in OPS (1.037) and slugging (.635), tied for first in extra-base hits (65), tied for second in doubles (33), tied for third in triples (eight), fourth in homers (24), sixth in RBI (87) and eighth in OBP (.402).
In a home game against Sugar Land on August 8, Veen went 5-for-5 with three home runs, a double and a triple. He set Isotopes franchise records with five extra-base hits and 17 total bases and tallied the 14th three-homer game by an Isotopes player in team history. Veen’s 17 total bases tied for the most in a Minor League game since at least 2005, accomplished on just five other occassions in the timeframe prior to that night. Veen played in the series finale against the Space Cowboys the next day before being called up to the Rockies, and homered in his first two Major League games of the year.
Veen was named PCL Player of the Month in June after he slashed .366/.385/.782 with 13 doubles, four triples, seven homers and 19 RBI in 24 games, also leading all of the Minors with 37 hits and 79 total bases. He garnered back-to-back Player of the Week awards from July 28-August 9, just the second player in Isotopes history to accomplish the feat (also: Ryan Ritter in 2025).
Condon spent the entire season with Albuquerque and slashed .273/.390/.514 with 25 doubles, seven triples, 27 homers and 98 RBI in a team-high 130 games. Condon was particularly impressive in day games, slashing .373/.474/.818 with 14 home runs and 37 RBI. His 14 long balls in day games led all Minor League players among the 120 full-season clubs.
On September 7 vs. Tacoma, Condon launched two grand slams, setting an Isotopes franchise record with nine RBI in a contest. He was the second Isotopes player to hit two grand slams in a game, along with Jerry Sands in 2012 at Nashville.
Condon was at his best from May 23-July 1, slashing .365/.482/.930 with seven doubles, five triples, 16 homers and 41 RBI during the stretch. He registered the most RBI among all pro players during the timeframe, and his 16 home runs in that span were tied for most along with Rockies All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman. Additionally, Condon had five multi-homer games this season, tied with Pat Valaika (2019) for most in a campaign in Isotopes history.
In his second Triple-A season, Thompson produced a .329/.475/.530 slashline with 18 doubles, two triples, 14 homers, 62 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 92 games. His .475 on-base percentage led all Minor League players among qualifiers and was just the 12th player in MiLB since 2005 to have an on-base percentage of at least .475 while garnering a minimum of 400 plate appearances. Thompson fell two points shy of the PCL’s batting title, as Pablo Reyes claimed the top spot with a .331 batting average.
Thompson made his Major League debut this year, playing in 27 games across two different stints with the Rockies. He had a walk-off pinch hit single on June 10 to defeat the Cubs, before launching his first two Major League home runs in the same game on June 17 at Wrigley Field.
Thompson slashed .390/.546/.714 in his final 30 games with 11 doubles, a triple, seven homers, 31 RBI and nine steals, reaching safely in 77 of 141 plate appearances in the span dating back to July 28. Additionally, Thompson ended the campaign on a 26-game on-base streak from Aug. 19-Sept. 20.
With Veen, Condon and Thompson all being named to the PCL Post-Season All-Star Team, 30 Isotopes players have now received the prestigious honor in franchise history. Adael Amador garnered recognition as the second baseman on the Post-Season All-Star team in 2025. Since 2007, Albuquerque has placed at least one member on the year-end team every season except 2024.
This year marks just the third time that a minimum of three Isotopes players were recognized in the same season. In 2007, infielders Robert Andino, Scott Seabol and Valentino Pascucci were all named to the All-Star team following the campaign, and a record four individuals enjoyed the reward in 2012: catcher Tim Federowicz, designated hitter Jerry Sands, along with pitchers John Ely and Josh Wall.
Condon becomes the third Isotopes player to win the PCL’s Top MLB Prospect Award, joining Joc Pederson (2014) and Josh Fuentes (2018), who each also won the league MVP award in their respective seasons.
