Bees snap three game losing streak

(Burlington, IA) - Jordan Zimmerman singled in Angel Almao in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Burlington Bees (11-18) a 4-3 win over the South Bend Cubs (20-12) on Wednesday afternoon.

(Burlington, IA) - Jordan Zimmerman singled in Angel Almao in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Burlington Bees (11-18) a 4-3 win over the South Bend Cubs (20-12) on Wednesday afternoon. 
South Bend jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a two-run third inning. Yeiler Peguero gave the Cubs the advantage with a two-run double. The Bees cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fifth inning. Roberto Baldoquin led off the inning with a single and then later scored on a wild pitch, making the score 2-1.
After South Bend added a run in the top of the eighth, the Bees tied it up in the bottom half. Jeyson Sanchez smacked his first home run of the season to pull the Bees within a run. The Bees tied the game up when Angel Almao was caught in a run down but scored on an error, sending the game to extra innings.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th, Jordan Zimmerman singled in Almao, giving the Bees the 4-3 win, snapping a three-game losing streak. 
Blake Smith (1-1) earned the win while Jared Cheek (1-1) was charged with the loss. The Bees welcome in the West Michigan Whitecaps on Thursday night at 6:30 pm.
