The Kansas City Royals announced Saturday that outfielder Brett Eibner has been acquired in a trade by the Oakland Athletics, in exchange for outfielder Billy Burns. Burns is expected to report to Omaha.

In 227 career games with the Storm Chasers, the 27-year-old combined for a .280 batting average (237-847), adding 144 runs, 43 doubles, four triples, 37 homers and 140 RBI, in addition to 20 steals in 23 attempts.
He began the 2016 campaign with the Storm Chasers, batting .288 (53-184) along with 37 runs, seven doubles, one triple, 11 homers and 32 RBI. Eibner had a career night on May 12 against the Memphis Redbirds, smashing three home runs, including two in one inning, while driving in six runs.
He was promoted to the Royals on May 26 and made his Major League debut the next day versus the Chicago White Sox. In 26 total games with Kansas City, Eibner compiled a .231 average (18-78) with 11 runs, six doubles, three homers and ten RBI. His walk-off RBI single on May 28 in his second career game capped the largest ninth-inning comeback in Royals history in an 8-7 victory over the White Sox.
Burns has spent a majority of the season with the Athletics, tallying a .234 average (64-274), adding 32 runs, 11 doubles, four triples and 12 RBI. Most recently in ten contests with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, Burns has accumulated a .293 average (12-41) with seven runs, one double and four RBI.
The Storm Chasers are set to begin a four-game homestand this evening against the Iowa Cubs, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. Omaha is anticipated to give the nod to RHP Christian Binford (1-8, 6.01), with RHP Jordan Pries (3-1, 3.52) expected to toe the rubber for the I-Cubs.
