Storm Chasers Present National Anthem Tryouts
"This gives area vocalists and musicians their first opportunity to try out for a slot to perform at beautiful Werner Park," said Martie Cordaro, the Storm Chasers Vice President and General Manager. "We're happy to work once again with the folks at Oak View Mall and we're excited about this year's panel of judges as well."
Judges scheduled to appear include Fred Thayer from Werner Enterprises, Bill Jensen and Tom Becka from KFAB, Michelle Matthews from 96.1 The Brew, Nancy Harmsen from G. Stanley Hall Elementary School, Candace Gregory from Open Door Mission, and Kayla Thomas-Haire, Mary Nelson and Mike DiGiacomo from The Morning Blend. The contest itself will take place on the upper floor of the mall, in front of Sears next to the food court.
Entrants will be judged on several criteria, including lyrical accuracy, voice quality, voice projection, presentation and overall performance quality. Each group or soloist chosen by the panel will receive up to four complimentary tickets to the game at which they will perform during the 2011 season.
Interested individuals and groups must pre-register for the event by calling Community Relations Manager Andrea Stava at 402-738-5115 or signing up online at www.omahastormchasers.com. After submitting their registration, participants will be given an audition time during which they will perform.
Joining the panel and the Storm Chasers staff at the event will be each of the team's three mascots, Stormy, Vortex and Casey. Fans are welcome to stop by and watch the audition, sign up for the Boys Town Pediatrics Lil' Chasers Club and get ticket information for the 2011 season.
