PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Chiefs have five bobblehead giveaways for the 2017 season with four of them featuring former players and the first ever Chiefs bobblehead to have two players on the same giveaway.
The first bobblehead will be an historic Chiefs bobblehead featuring two of the greatest players in franchise history: Greg Maddux and Yadier Molina. The bobblehead, presented by Health Alliance, will have Maddux pitching to Molina catching and will be given away to the first 1000 fans 13 and older on Saturday, May 13 as the Chiefs host the South Bend Cubs at 6:30 p.m. in the final game of the Cardinals/Cubs rivalry weekend.
The following weekend, on Friday, May 19, the first 1000 fans 13 and over will get a DJ LeMahieu bobblehead courtesy of Ballpark Buns. LeMahieu was the Chiefs shortstop for the second half of the 2009 season as the Chiefs won the second half Western Division title. In 2016 LeMahieu joined Albert Pujols as the only former Chiefs to ever win a MLB batting title when he hit .348 for the Colorado Rockies.
The third bobblehead of the season features 2002 Chiefs ace Dan Haren and will be given away, courtesy of Jimmy John's, to the first 1000 fans 13 and older on Saturday, June 10 as part of the 15th anniversary weekend of the Chiefs 2002 Championship. Haren was a 2002 MWL All-Star and was promoted to Potomac in late June before enjoying an 11-year MLB career.
The only bobblehead to not feature a former Chiefs player will be a Bradley University Kaboom! Mascot bobblehead giveaway to the first 1000 fans of all ages on Friday, July 29. The promotion is part of Bradley University Night at Dozer Park.
The last bobblehead giveaway of the season features one of the latest Chiefs to make his MLB debut: RHP Alex Reyes. The Reyes bobblehead will be given away to the first 1000 fans ages 13 and over on Friday, August 11. Reyes pitched for the Chiefs in 2014 and last year starter the Futures Game at the MLB All-Star weekend for the World Team, made his MLB debut in August and is slated to pitch for the Dominican Republic in next month's World Baseball Classic.
All five games that feature bobblehead giveaways also include post-game fireworks. Individual game tickets go on sale Wednesday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. Bobbleheads are guaranteed to full-season and 35-game ticket package holders who are in attendance the night of the giveaway, as a season ticket benefit.
