Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs have announced that Contemporary Christian music star Chris August will return to Dozer Park to perform after the Saturday, June 23 game as part of Faith & Family Night. August performed at Dozer Park on June 18, 2016 in front of nearly 6000 fans after the Chiefs beat Burlington. This time around the Chiefs are again playing the Bees and the game on June 23 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
A native of Texas, August was nominated for five awards at the 2011 Dove Awards and he was named Best New Artist, Male Vocalist of the Year and his album No Far Away won Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. His debut single Starry Night, from the No Far Away album, reached #1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart in 2010/11. During his career, August has opened for or performed with acts such as Ashlee Simpson, Mercy Me, Tobymac, and Big Daddy Weave. His most recent EP, Everthing After, features five songs and sparked his current tour.
The June 23 Chiefs game starts at 6:30 p.m. against Burlington and other promotions in addition to Faith & Family Night include post-game Fireworks, St. Jude Night where the first 1000 fans through the gate get a baseball card set featuring kids battling/beating cancer, Morton Night, and Signature Saturday.
