PEORIA, IL - Due to shipping issues, the Peoria Chiefs regretfully announce that solar eclipse glasses will not be available at Monday's noon game against Clinton. The glasses, which were ordered August 8, have been lost in transit and are not expected to arrive prior to Monday's game time.
The Chiefs will still host the LumberKings at Noon on Monday and the game will be halted during the eclipse. No half inning will start after 1:10 p.m. and both teams will leave the field for safety during the eclipse. Once the eclipse ends, the game will resume with adequate time allowed for the pitcher to warm up.
"It's an unfortunate situation and one we have been working on since Thursday but with no luck locating them," said Chiefs President Rocky Vonachen. "We apologize for any inconvenience for our fans. This would've been something fun and very unique for our fans to watch a Solar Eclipse during a baseball game."
Fans planning to attend the Chiefs game are encouraged to bring their own eclipse glasses (that meet all the requirements for ISO 12312-2:2015) or plan to not look at the sun during the eclipse for their own safety. Fans may move to the concourse underneath the suite level during the eclipse to ensure they are in the shade.
