Selected by the Miami Marlins in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of UCLA... as a junior at UCLA, began the season as the Sunday starter, before transitioning to midweek starter and bullpen arm... honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic selection. Appeared in 27 games (13 starts), going 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA. Went 1-0 with a 1.99 ERA over 14 appearances (one start) in Pac-12 play...Combined to go 14-12 with a 3.92 ERA in 73 games (39 starts) and 222.2 innings for the Bruins in three years... Three-year varsity baseball letterwinner at Christian High School (El Cajon, CA) Selected in the 27th round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals, but chose UCLA. Batted .509 with 55 hits, 13 doubles, 20 stolen bases, 23 RBI and 45 runs as a junior in 2011, pitching 17.2 innings that season. Broke school records with his 55 hits and .509 batting average... Missed time due to right elbow inflammation in July... spent most of the season in the Majors with Miami, appearing in 12 games, 10 of which as a reliever, and went 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 28 innings... made two appearances for Jacksonville and one for Jupiter... elected free agency on Nov. 10, 2022... signed with the Kansas City Royals on Dec. 16, 2022

2021

Made seven starts for the Marlins in 2021. Finished the season 2-3 with a 4.99 ERA... Made his Major League debut on May 12 at Arizona. Pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two runs, four hits and zero walks to earn his first Major League win. Became the third starting pitcher in Marlins history to pitch at least 5.0 innings and not allow a walk in his Major League debut, joining RHP Aníbal Sánchez on June 25, 2006 and RHP Sixto Sánchez on Aug. 22, 2020... Started his MLB career 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA in his first three starts (17.0 IP/2 ER). Pitched 7.0 innings against the Mets on May 23. Allowed three hits and no runs... Landed on the Injured list on June 5 with a right MCL Sprain. Returned June 18 but was placed on the Injured List again on June 28 with a right knee sprain and was transferred to the 60-Day IL on Aug. 20, missing the remainder of the year.

2019

Split 2019 between Triple-A New Orleans and Double-A Jacksonville. He combined to go 7-6 with a 3.56 ERA in 23 games (all starts). Worked 136.1 innings...Began the season with Double-A Jacksonville where he went 5-3 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 starts and 84.0 innings, earning a spot on the Southern League All-Star Team...In his final start in Double-A on June 23, he worked 7.0 innings, allowing one hit and striking out 11 against Pensacola...Called up to Triple-A New Orleans on June 30. Went 2-3 with a 5.68 ERA in 10 starts and 52.1 innings.

2018

Split 2018 between Advanced-A Jupiter and Double-A Jacksonville. Combined to go 4-15 with a 4.98 ERA in 26 games (25 starts)…Started four games for Advanced-A Jupiter going 1-3 with a 3.60 ERA. Struck out 29 in 25.0 innings...Assigned to Double-A Jacksonville on July 28. Went 3-12 with a 5.26 ERA in 22 games (21 starts). Struck out 99 in 119.2 innings.

2017

Pitched in 16 games (14 starts) for Advanced-A Jupiter in 2017. Went 3-7 with a 4.16 ERA in 80.0 innings...Earned a place on the Florida State League All-Star Team. Through July was 3-3 with a 2.52 ERA. Went 0-4 with a 7.52 ERA in August.
