(Columbia, SC - May 19, 2017)- The West Virginia Power took an early lead and never surrendered to the Columbia Fireflies, picking up a Friday night victory 3-1.
The Power got to Columbia starter Blake Taylor early. With a runner aboard and one out in the first,
Left-hander Vieaux surrendered his only run of the night in the first. A Michael Paez double drove home Andres Gimenez to inch the Fireflies closer, 2-1. But Vieaux settled to his normal self and gave up six hits over five and two thirds. Vieaux earned his second win of the year while striking out three.
West Virginia came across one more time in the third. A throwing error from Reed Gamache brought home Owen and the Power offense finished with three runs.
The win goes to Vieaux (2-0) and Taylor (0-5) took the loss.
The Power and Fireflies square off on Saturday night. West Virginia sends James Marvel (2-3) to take on Harol Gonzalez (2-2). First pitch from Spirit Communications Park is set for 7:05 P.M. Catch the call on the Power Baseball network.
