Brett Nicholas Named Pacific Coast League All-Star

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Hey now, you're an All-Star! Round Rock Express catcher Brett Nicholas was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team as announced today by the league office. The Arizona native will serve as the lone Express representative on this year's team.  Nicholas is batting .318 (61-192)

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Hey now, you're an All-Star! Round Rock Express catcher Brett Nicholas was named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team as announced today by the league office. The Arizona native will serve as the lone Express representative on this year's team.  
Nicholas is batting .318 (61-192) on the season with 30 RBI and 11 doubles. He is second on the team with 21 multi-hit games and has eight multi-RBI games. The 28-year-old has spent time behind the dish, at 1B, 3B and as designated hitter. He started the season on the disabled list with the Texas Rangers after undergoing knee surgery during spring training. He joined the Express on a major league rehab assignment on April 24 before being optioned to Round Rock on April 27.
This is Nicholas' second consecutive Triple-A All-Star appearance after earning the mid-season honors in 2016.
The starters for the 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game include C Victor Carantini (Iowa Cubs), 1B Garrett Cooper (Colorado Springs Sky Sox), 2B Willie Calhoun (Oklahoma City Dodgers), 3B Colin Moran (Fresno Grizzlies), SS Amed Rosario (Las Vegas 51s), OFs Oswaldo Arcia (Reno Aces), Derek Fisher (Fresno Grizzlies) and Alex Verdugo (Oklahoma City Dodgers), DH Christian Walker (Reno Aces), starting pitchers Wilmer Font (Oklahoma City Dodgers) and Seth Frankoff (Iowa Cubs) and relievers Matt Carasiti (Iowa Cubs) and Jimmie Sherfy (Reno Aces).
Filling out the reserves with Nicholas are C Carson Kelly (Memphis Redbirds), INFs Raul Mondesi (Omaha Storm Chasers), Renato Núñez (Nashville Sounds), Ildemaro Vargas (Reno Aces) and Daniel Vogelbach (Tacoma Rainiers), OFs Nick Buss (El Paso Chihuahuas) and Noel Cuevas (Albuquerque Isotopes) and pitchers Paul Blackburn (Nashville Sounds), Jean Machi (Tacoma Rainiers), Tyler Rogers (Sacramento River Cats), Troy Scribner (Salt Lake Bees), Ryan Sherriff (Memphis Redbirds), Chris Smith (Nashville Sounds), Drew Steckenrider (New Orleans Baby Cakes), Luke Weaver (Memphis Redbirds) and Madison Younginer (Oklahoma City Dodgers).
The 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at Cheney Stadium, home of the Tacoma Rainiers.
