RHP Nick Martinez Recalled by Texas Rangers

PAPILLION, Nebraska - The Texas Rangers have recalled RHP Nick Martinez from their Triple-A affiliate the Round Rock Express, the club announced Wednesday. In a corresponding move, RHP Allen Webster has been transferred from extended spring training to Round Rock. He is scheduled to start tonight against the Omaha Storm

PAPILLION, Nebraska - The Texas Rangers have recalled RHP Nick Martinez from their Triple-A affiliate the Round Rock Express, the club announced Wednesday. In a corresponding move, RHP Allen Webster has been transferred from extended spring training to Round Rock. He is scheduled to start tonight against the Omaha Storm Chasers.
Martinez made one start with the E-Train this season, earning the win after giving up just two hits in 5.0 innings of work. He struck out five batters, holding Nashville to a .118 (2-17). He split the 2016 season between Round Rock, Arlington and Double-A Frisco. In 18 apperances for the Express, the righty went 7-6 with a 3.91 ERA (43er/99.0ip). He fanned 67 batters while allowing just 17 walks. On the year, he went a combined 9-9 with a 2.08 ERA (69er/143.2ip).
Webster is rejoining the Express after being on the Opening Day roster. He made one start against Nashville on April 7, giving up four runs on 10 hits in 5.0 innigns of work. He spent the 2016 season pitching for Samsung in the Korean Baseball Organization, going 4-4 with a 5.70 ERA (45er/71.0ip). The right-hander was signed as a minor league free agent on November 28, 2016.
With these moves, the Express have 25 active, two on the disabled list and one Major League rehabber.
Round Rock continues their first roadtrip of the season with game two tonight in Omaha. Webster is scheduled to toe the rubber against the Storm Chasers LHP Eric Skoglund.
