Roster move: Gallegos joins Intimidators

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (June 7, 2017) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have received right-handed pitcher Fernando Gallegos prior to Wednesday's game at Lakewood. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Victor Diaz has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to June 4. 
Gallegos, 24, signed with the White Sox on June 12, 2016, after opening the season with the Lake Erie Crushers of the independent Frontier League. He spent the season with Advanced Rookie Great Falls, going 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA (10 ER/38.2 IP) and 38 strikeouts in 17 games (three starts) for the Voyagers. Gallegos - a Sylmar, Calif., native - graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2015 where he earned All-West Region honors as a senior.
Diaz, 23, has appeared in four games with Kannapolis this season, going 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (4 ER/4.2 IP) and seven strikeouts. In his second appearance with the Intimidators, he worked 2.0 scoreless innings and fanned five batters, one shy of his career high, to close out a win at Greensboro on May 28.
