White Sox prospect Rutherford activated

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 23, 2017) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have announced five roster moves prior to Wednesday's home game against Greensboro. The Intimidators have activated outfielder Blake Rutherford off the disabled list and received right-handed pitcher Matt Foster from Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 23, 2017) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have announced five roster moves prior to Wednesday's home game against Greensboro. The Intimidators have activated outfielder Blake Rutherford off the disabled list and received right-handed pitcher Matt Foster from Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem. In corresponding moves, Kannapolis placed right-handed pitcher Blake Hickman (retroactive to Aug. 20) and outfielder Micker Adolfo on the disabled list and transferred outfielder Craig Dedelow to Advanced Rookie Great Falls. The roster is now at 24.
Rutherford, 20, has appeared in 20 games with Kannapolis since joining the White Sox organization from the New York Yankees on July 19 as part of a 7-player trade. In 91 games in the South Atlantic League between Charleston and Kannapolis, he is batting .272 (97-356) with 24 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 34 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases at the Class A level this season. The Yankees initially drafted Rutherford in the first round of the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Chaminade Prep in Canoga Park, Calif. 
Foster, 22, returns to Kannapolis after making 10 appearances with Winston-Salem, going 0-2 with a 0.68 (1 ER/13.1 IP) and 14 strikeouts in the Carolina League. Between the Intimidators and Dash, the closer is 0-2 with a 0.73 ERA (2 ER/24.2 IP) and 29 strikeouts in A-ball. The White Sox 20th round selection in the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft split last season between the AZL White Sox and Great Falls, going 0-0 with a 0.61 ERA in 22 games after finishing his collegiate career at Alabama.  
Hickman, 23, is 4-6 with a 4.08 ERA (37 ER/81.2 IP) and 52 strikeouts in 15 games (15 starts) with Kannapolis in his professional debut season. The White Sox selected him in the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Iowa, and he missed his first two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery.  
Adolfo, 20, is batting .264 (112-424) while leading the team with 28 doubles, 16 home runs, and 68 RBI in 112 games with Kannapolis. The right fielder is in his second season with the Intimidators.  
Dedelow, 22, appeared in five games with Kannapolis, batting .105 (2-19) with a home run and an RBI. He opened his professional career with Great Falls this season, batting .328 (60-183) with 16 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, and 41 RBI in 44 games in the Pioneer League. The White Sox selected Dedelow in the ninth round of the June 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of Indiana.
