ADDITIONAL RIVER BANDITS LOGOS UNVEILED AT MODERN WOODMEN PARK
The new version, which is already featured on new River Bandits merchandise, consists of a baseball wearing the same black bandit hat with the red stripe worn by the raccoon along with a red bandana over its mouth.
"The first alternate logo symbolizes what the new name is all about," explained Dave Heller, Managing Partner of the club's new ownership group, Main Street Iowa. "It's a fresh new version of an old logo. It has a new, updated look while paying homage to the original River Bandits, a period which in many ways was a golden age for baseball in the Quad Cities."
The club also revealed a pair of other logos. One will feature the raccoon from the primary logo without the bridge or text in the background. The other is a traditional "QC" logo with the two letters linked diagonally. All three logos were created by Francis Santaquilani of FS Design. A fourth logo and all of the team's caps will be unveiled later this off-season.
"If the response to the primary logo is any indication, we expect River Bandits fans to enjoy these marks as well," said Kirk Goodman, Vice President of the new ownership group. "The fans showed tremendous support for the primary logo we unveiled last week, and there will definitely be a lot of excitement around the new version of the Baseball Bandit logo as well."
"This is a really exciting time to be around baseball in the Quad Cities," added General Manager Ben Burke. "The atmosphere around Modern Woodmen Park and around town has been noticeably different. There's a buzz around this place that you can't help but feel."
Heller also noted that the team was proud to be bringing back the "QC" on its road caps. "For the past four years, the team used the same logo on the road as it did at home," said Heller. "We wanted to put the "QC" back on our road cap, and let folks throughout the Midwest know that we represent the Quad Cities area with great pride."
