The Quad Cities River Bandits picked up two victories over the Beloit Snappers on Wednesday night at Pohlman Field. They won the continuation of a game that was suspended due to a power outage on July 3 by a 2-1 score and then slugged three home runs on the way to an 8-2 win in the nightcap.
The Bandits and Snappers resumed the suspended game in the bottom of the sixth inning with the score tied 1-1. That score remained until the top of the ninth inning when, with two outs, David Hensley hit a 1-2 pitch from Bryce Conley off of the scoreboard behind the left field wall for a go-ahead home run. Although this blast was his third home run of the season, because the stats from this game count toward July 3, it was technically the first home run of his professional career.
Bryan Abreu was on the mound when the game resumed and was still on the mound to strike out Ryan Gridley to end the contest in the bottom of the ninth. He ended up earning the win by tossing 4.0 scoreless innings and striking out five Beloit hitters.

In the nightcap, the Bandits jumped ahead in the top of the first inning. Colton Shaver and David Hensley each worked walks off of Beloit pitcher Jhenderson Hurtado. A balk moved both of the runners into scoring position with one out. Chandler Taylor put the Bandits on the board by rolling a groundball to first that allowed Shaver to score.
Beloit tied the game with help from the Bandits defense in the fourth. Lazaro Armenteros walked to open the frame and then raced to third on another single by Austin Beck. With the throw coming in to third base, Beck tried to advance to second. Shaver's throw to second deflected off of shortstop Miguelangel Sierra and into left field, allowing Armenteros to race home.
Scott Schreiber led off the fifth inning by giving the Bandits the lead back on a solo shot to center field. The home run was the third of his professional career and put the Bandits on top 2-1.
The Snappers pulled even once again in the bottom of the same frame. Jack Meggs doubled off of the right field wall to start the inning. He moved to third on Jordan Devencenzi's base hit into left. Jesus Lage followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Meggs to tag and score, tying the game 2-2.
Taylor reached via base on balls with one out in the top of the sixth inning. Marty Costes followed by working the count full and then blasting a two-run home run over the left field wall to give the River Bandits a 4-2 advantage. The blast was the third as a professional for Costes.
The Bandits extended their lead with a two-out rally in the eighth inning. Taylor walked and moved to second on a Costes single into left. Jonathan Lacroix then blasted a three-run home run to right field to widen the gap to 7-2.
In the ninth inning, Scott Schreiber singled up the middle to open the frame. He stole second base and advanced to third base on a throwing error from Devencenzi. Shaver lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Schreiber and increase the lead to 8-2, the final margin.
Starting pitcher Chad Donato worked 5.0 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits to pick up the win. He struck out two and also walked a pair. Humberto Castellanos worked 2.0 scoreless frames while striking out three. Left-hander Parker Mushinski finished the game with 2.0 scoreless innings of his own, picking up five strikeouts in the process.
