The Quad Cities River Bandits left 10 men on base as they fell by a 1-0 score for the second time in the last five days on Monday afternoon at Dozer Park. The River Bandits dropped two games behind the Peoria Chiefs for the final playoff spot in the Western Division.
Peoria struck for the only run of the game against River Bandits starting pitcher Jairo Solis in the first inning. Irving Lopez worked a walk to open the frame and would race around the bases on a triple to dead center by Elehuris Montero with one out. Solis rebounded to strike out the side and strand Montero at third base.
The River Bandits put a runner in scoring position in each of the last five innings, but could never cash in. The team finished with seven hits. Roman Garcia and Alfredo Angarita each tallied two.

Solis was the tough luck loser, working 5.0 innings and allowing the one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Humberto Castellanos followed with 2.0 scoreless innings and Brendan Feldmann added one scoreless frame of his own.
The River Bandits (34-30) return home for another crucial series with the Clinton LumberKings (37-26) beginning on Tuesday night. The River Bandits have not yet announced a starter for the game, while Clinton will throw RHP Clay Chandler (3-1, 3.40) in the opener. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
