Wisconsin Beats Bandits 11-1 after Big Eighth Inning

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers blew open a close game with nine runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 11-1 on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The teams split the four-game series. The River Bandits ended the night in a three-way tie

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers blew open a close game with nine runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 11-1 on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. The teams split the four-game series. The River Bandits ended the night in a three-way tie for first place in the Western Division with Peoria and Clinton.
Wisconsin snatched the lead in the fourth inning against River Bandits starter Cesar Rosado. With two outs and the bases empty, KJ Harrison doubled to left. Gabriel Garcia followed by shooting a groundball just past the reach of third baseman Colton Shaver and down the left field line for another double. Harrison trotted home and the Timber Rattlers had the lead.
One swing of the bat in the River Bandits half of the fifth pulled them even at 1-1. After Ruben Castro flied out to left to open the inning, Colton Shaver stepped in. The third baseman turned on a fastball and hit a line drive home run onto the berm in left field for his fourth long ball of the campaign.

The Timber Rattlers took the lead back in the top of the seventh. Pat McInerney worked a walk from Enoli Paredes with one out in the inning. He stole second base and then scored on Nick Roscetti's opposite field single to right, putting Wisconsin back in front 2-1.
Wisconsin put the game away with the big eighth inning push. The first run scored on a fielder's choice groundout from Gabriel Garcia. A passed ball with the bases loaded plated another. Later in the frame, Joantgel Segovia tacked on an RBI double before KJ Harrison blew the contest wide open with a grand slam home run to left. When the smoke cleared, the Timber Rattlers had totaled nine runs on four hits in the frame.
Rosado tossed 5.0 innings, surrendering one run on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Paredes followed by working 2.2 innings, during which he gave up three runs, one earned, on one hit and two walks. He collected four strikeouts. Dariel Aquino allowed seven runs on four hits and three walks without recording an out. Adam Bleday pitched the final 1.1 innings without allowing any damage.
The River Bandits were limited to just five hits. Arauz finished with two to lead the team. Wisconsin's Nick Roscetti went 4-4 with an RBI.
The River Bandits (25-21) open a new series at Modern Woodmen Park against the Peoria Chiefs (24-20) on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. The River Bandits will start RHP Peter Solomon (1-1, 2.43) against Peoria RHP Evan Guillory (4-2, 2.90)
