Smokies & Calhouns Announce Partnership

Newest Calhouns to sit 6000
February 18, 2014

The Tennessee Smokies Baseball Club and the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants announced today that beginning this April, world famous Calhoun's Bar-B-Que will have a major presence at Smokies Stadium and will be "the official bar-b-que" served at all Smokies home games. Terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed. On hand for the announcement at Calhoun's On the River were Smokies President Doug Kirchhofer and VP / COO Chris Allen. Calhoun's was represented by COO Bart Fricks.

Food service and fan experience have been a top priority for the Smokies this offseason as several upgrades to Smokies Stadium are currently under way. The arrangement with Calhoun's will include "Calhoun's at the Yard", a branded concession stand featuring Calhoun's signature menu items. In addition, the new left field picnic area will bear Calhoun's name and be catered exclusively by Calhoun's. Microbrews by the Smoky Mountain Brewery will be featured at the bar area that will be part of the new picnic deck and will be the only local beers served at the Stadium.

Smokies owner Randy Boyd displayed his enthusiasm by stating, "One of the best parts of going to a ball park is enjoying great authentic food and beverages that represent the community, and there is nothing better in our area than Calhoun's. We are excited to have them as a partner and I'm sure our fans will enjoy having their bar-b-que and micro-brews at the park"

Bart Fricks stated "We are honored to bring our products to the Tennessee Smokies and their fans. Calhoun's prides itself in being the bar-b-que of choice in east Tennessee and now Smokies fans can enjoy our award winning bar-b-que and baseball at the same time. A real win for all involved."

"The quality of Calhoun's as well as all of the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurant is second to none, and we are extremely excited to make this announcement today! This partnership will afford us the ability to offer a true "Taste of Tennessee", said Smokies president Doug Kirchhofer.

With the addition of Smokies Stadium, Calhoun's Bar-B-Que is now available at three sports venues in the Knoxville area joining the University of Tennessee's Neyland Stadium as well as Thompson-Boling Arena.
