SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE - The Smokies' offense produced 10 runs on 14 hits Friday night, leading Tennessee to a 10-4 win over Mobile at Smokies Stadium. Tennessee's seven-through-nine hitters in the lineup combined to go 10-for-14 with four RBIs and six runs scored.
The Smokies combined to score seven runs in the second and third innings, jumping out to a 7-1 lead over the BayBears. Carlos Penalver hit an RBI triple, Trey Martin had a pair of RBI singles, Cael Brockmeyer picked up an RBI single, Charcer Burks hit a sacrifice fly, Yasiel Balaguert continued his hot hitting with an RBI double and Daniel Spingola concluded the offensive outburst with an RBI single of his own.
Zach Hedges received the start on the mound for the Smokies, putting in seven innings of work. Hedges allowed three runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out one for his seventh win of the season. José Rosario pitched one scoreless inning in the eighth and Dillon Maples closed things out in the ninth.
The Smokies are back in action tomorrow night against the BayBears. Game three of the five-game series is set for 7 p.m. ET with gates opening at 5:30 pm ET. Tennessee can clinch a series win with its fifth straight win. Saturday's game will feature a post-game fireworks show as a part of the Summer Fireworks Series, presented by Coors Light and Pepsi.
