SEVIERVILLE - The Tennessee Smokies announced their Opening Day plans for the 2017 season. Opening Night for the team is Wednesday, April 12, as they host the Mississippi Braves at 7:00 p.m.
The team will feature a 60 degree weather guarantee. The Smokies will guarantee 60 degree weather or above at the time of first pitch at 7:00 p.m. on Opening Night, Wednesday April 12. If the weather is below 60 degrees at first pitch every fan in attendance can use their ticket stub for a free field level ticket voucher to any Smokies home game in April 2017.
"It is officially baseball season, and we are excited to get back on the field again," Stated Smokies President and COO Chris Allen. "Considering the weather is always questionable in the month of April, we will guarantee that the weather will be 60 degrees or above at the time of first pitch. If the weather does not reach 60 degrees by the time of first pitch, each fan can use their ticket for another game in April for a free ticket voucher."
Opening Night will also feature the first All You Can Eat Wednesday of the 2017 season, presented by Mrs. Grissom's Salads. Fans will be able to enjoy all of their ballpark favorites for one low price all night long. Each person who passes through the gates will also receive a free magnet schedule presented by Pilot Food Marts.
The Tennessee Smokies will look to build off of their 58-81 2016 campaign under Mark Johnson leading into the 2017 season. 2017 looks bright for the Cubs organization as a whole coming off of the 2016 World Series Championship run by the Chicago Cubs.
