Spokane, WA - The Northwest League announced that center fielder Zach Cone of the Spokane Indians has been named Player of the Week for July 14-20. Cone rediscovered his swing, posting a .333/.387/.926 slash line in the seven games played.
Cone, who is in his second stint with Spokane, hammered four home runs to push him into a tie atop the Northwest League with seven total. He also knocked four doubles into the gap and drew two walks. His 10 RBI during the week were more than any other NWL player; he now has a total of 25 RBI on the season, which puts him third on the Indians.
The 2011 first-round pick out of the University of Georgia has garnered a hit in nine of the past 11 contests, raising his on-base percentage to .361.
The Spokane Indians have won all three league Player of the Week honors in 2014, with Cone being the third to earn the award. Jose Trevino (June 30-July 6) and Seth Spivey (July 7-13) have also received the award.
Ben Eckels of the Hillsboro Hops earned NWL Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Spokane Indians can clinch the first spot in the North Division of the Northwest League Playoffs with a victory tonight over the Everett AquaSox. The victory would seal the Indians as the North Division's first-half champions.
