INDIANS PITCHING SHUT DOWN HAWKS BATS
SPOKANE, WA - The Indians hitters scored early, and their pitchers held on late against the Boise Hawks as they won the series opener 3-2 in front of 4,977 Indians fans tonight.
Spokane got on the board in the second inning, when shortstop Jurickson Profar hit a sacrifice fly that scored first baseman Andrew Clark. Designated hitter Josh Richmond made it 2-0 when he scored off second baseman Santiago Chirino's single to center field. Clark led the Indians with two hits.
Boise would tie up the score in the top half of the third inning, but Spokane grabbed the lead back for good when right fielder Ryan Strausborger tripled and scored on center fielder Jake Skole's single to left field. Strausborger was one for four with a run.
Starting pitcher Randol Rojas picked up his fifth win of the season going six innings, giving up two runs. Relief pitcher Brett Weibley pitched two scoreless innings striking out two. Zach Osborne pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two hitters to pick up the save. Osborne's last appearance at Avista Stadium was July 13th, a day before suffering a facial injury that required surgery.
