DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 26, 2018) - Saturday's game between the St. Lucie Mets and Daytona Tortugas was suspended by rain.
The Mets lead 5-3 in the middle of the fifth inning. The game is set to continue on Sunday at 4 p.m. Another full nine-inning contest to wrap up the series will commence 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game.
The Mets scored all five of their runs in the fourth inning. Desmond Lindsay hit a leadoff homer. Dash Winningham pulled a two-run double, Dan Rizzie lofted a sac fly and Jacob Zanon hit a two-out RBI single. All five runs were charged to Tortugas starter Ty Boyles.
Mets starter Harol Gonzalez didn't allow a run over his first 3.2 innings and he only needed four pitches to get the first two outs in the fourth. However, the game started unraveling for Gonzalez at that point. The Tortugas ripped off six straight hits and scored three runs. Ibandel Isabel hit a two-run homer in the frame.
The lengthy fourth inning cost the teams a chance to make it through five innings and make it an official game.
