The St. Lucie Mets have announced they will be unveiling their new mascot at the Mets home opener against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Thursday, April 4 at Tradition Field. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Mets have employed Slider since 1995 where he has been a fixture at the stadium and in the community.

Slider, who has been with the St. Lucie Mets for 17 years, will be moving to Kingsport, TN, home of the Mets rookie ball affiliate, the Kingsport Mets.  It is rumored that he will be attending college in the greater TN area while serving as the mascot for the K-Mets.

The St. Lucie Mets will send a farewell to Slider at their home opener. The Mets will unveil their new mascot prior to the game.

The St. Lucie Mets new mascot will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and Slider will be behind the plate catching.

The St. Lucie Mets set the single-season record for most wins in team history with 83 in 2012 while also winning the First Half South Division Championship for the second straight year.
