Tacoma, WA - Right-hander Darren McCaughan tossed six innings of scoreless baseball for Tacoma, allowing only two hits and striking out six, but the Rainiers left the bases loaded in the ninth inning and dropped their 2019 home finale against the Las Vegas Aviators on Sunday, 2-0, getting swept in the four-game series.
McCaughan's outing marks his second quality start in three outings, his first being on August 15 against the Fresno Grizzlies when he tossed six frames of three-run ball in an 8-4 Tacoma victory. The right-hander's six punchouts are the most he has recorded in a Rainiers (58-73) uniform.
Major League rehabber Austin Adams maintained the pace when he tossed a scoreless seventh, but right-hander Ryan Garton (4-2) came on in the eighth and gave up the only two runs of the game when Las Vegas (80-52) outfielder Nick Martini launched a home run over the right-center field fence.

Left fielder John Andreoli collected two of Tacoma's five hits, including a double and infielder Ryan Court collected a pair of knocks.
The Rainiers loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth, but left their potential winning run stranded at first after a Kelby Tomlinson strikeout, a slow ground out by pinch hitter Joe Odom, and a called third strike on Major League rehabber Braden Bishop to end the game.
Tacoma finishes the home campaign at 33-36, dropping their last five at Cheney Stadium. The club drew eight sellouts over the last nine games of the season, and packed at least 6,500 into R House 19 times this season.
The Rainiers will start their final road trip of the season against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, on Monday. Tacoma will roll out southpaw Anthony Misiewicz (7-6, 5.95) for a 7:05 p.m. PDT start. Mike Curto will have full coverage on South Sound Talk 850 with audio streaming available on the Tacoma Rainiers TuneIn Radio Network.
