LAS VEGAS, NV – The Rainiers took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd inning on Sunday at Las Vegas Ballpark, but the Las Vegas Aviators scored the next 10 runs in a 14-3 final, snapping Tacoma’s season-long, seven-game winning streak. Tacoma (22-16) got a sacrifice fly from shortstop Donovan Walton

Tacoma (22-16) got a sacrifice fly from shortstop Donovan Walton that scored second baseman Jack Reinheimer and evened the score in the 3rd inning, 1-1. Two batters later, left fielder José Marmolejos pushed the Rainiers in front with an RBI knock that plated designated hitter Jarred Kelenic.

Las Vegas (19-22), who scored a 1st inning run off Tacoma starter Keynan Middleton, recaptured the lead with a pair in the 3rd inning against right-hander Justin Grimm (2-1).

Right-handers Evan Johnson and Leon Hunter were transferred to Tacoma on Saturday and made their Triple-A debuts on Sunday. Johnson pitched the 4th inning and Hunter dealt the following two frames, with both pitchers surrendering four runs.

Wyatt Mills started the 7th inning for Tacoma and gave up three runs before Zack Weiss replaced the righty with two outs in the inning. Weiss forced a fly out to end the inning, stranding Las Vegas runners at the corners. The right-hander also pitched a scoreless 8th inning.

The Rainiers got one run back in the 7th inning when Reinheimer doubled home Luis Liberato, cutting the deficit to 11-3.

Tacoma’s seven-game winning streak was the team’s longest since winning eight consecutive contests from July 9-19, 2016.
