BILOXI, MS - The Tennessee Smokies were defeated by the Shuckers on Friday night, 8-2, in Biloxi. It was Tennessee's fourth loss in-a-row and their third to Biloxi.
Duncan Robinson started the game for the Smokies and gave them a solid start. Robinson pitched six innings, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out four. Robinson received help from his defense in the bottom of the sixth when Eddy Martinez threw out Corey Ray at the plate to preserve the shutout. 
A scoreless game through three innings, the Smokies got on the board in the top of the fourth. Trent Giambrone led off the inning with a double and, with one out, Yasiel Balaguert scored him on a sacrifice fly to put Tennessee up 1-0. It was Balaguert's 48th RBI of the season. 
Tennessee added to its one run lead in the seventh inning when with two outs, Martinez hit his seventh home run of the season over the wall in center to put the Smokies up 2-0. 
Offensively, the Smokies totaled seven hits in the game. Wynton Bernard led the team with two hits in the game. Five other Smokies each picked up a hit. 
Wyatt Short entered the game in the seventh with the two run lead, but could not hold on to it. Short gave up a three-run home run in the inning to give the Shuckers a 3-2 lead. Short ended up pitching 1.1 innings, allowing six runs. 
The Smokies and Shuckers return to the ballpark on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. ET for game four of the series. The Smokies will send Matt Swarmer to the mound as he looks for his second win of the year in Double-A. Biloxi will counter with Thomas Jankins who is looking to get double digits in wins with his 10th one of the year.
