KODAK, Tenn. - Despite some terrific defense by the Braves, the Smokies rolled tonight with a 10-1 victory, and out-hit Mississippi 12-7.

The Braves tallied first in the game with a solo home run in the first inning by Luke Waddell. It was the first home run given up by starting pitcher Walker Powell in the first inning all year.

The third inning was a hefty one for the Smokies. The first event of the frame happened on a line drive to center field by Cole Roederer that scored BJ Murray to tie the game. Tennessee proceeded to load the bases for Jordan Nwogu, and he didn’t disappoint. With a mighty blast over the left field wall, Nwogu hit a grand slam to give the Smokies the 5-1 lead after three.

Pete Crow-Armstrong must have felt left out of all of the scoring because, at his next at-bat, he hit a solo deep shot over the center field wall to add to the Smokies' lead. Then, in the fifth, he singled to left field and drove in two more runs to widen the margin to 8-1.

Owen Caissie joined in on the fun in the 6th with an absolute dinger that left the park, 9-1.

In the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded, Cole Roederer was walked, which brought in PCA to score, again, making it 10-1 Smokies.

The final out of the game came on a swinging strike out, pitched by Smokies reliever Cayne Ueckert.

Final score: Smokies 10, Braves 1
