Leo Native Brandon Alger Joins TinCaps

The Fort Wayne TinCaps, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced the following roster moves today:

LHP Brandon Alger transferred from Short-Season A Eugene to Fort Wayne. Alger, 21, was selected by the Padres in the 26th round of the 2012 Draft out of Indiana Tech. The Leo, Indiana, native began his professional career with the Eugene Emeralds, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.32 ERA. In 42⅔ innings he struck out 36 and walked six.

OF Jeremy Baltz transferred from Short-Season A Eugene to Fort Wayne. Baltz, 21, was selected by the Padres in the 2nd round of the 2012 Draft out of St. John's University. In 70 games with the Eugene Emeralds, the Vestal, New York native hit .281 with five home runs and 43 runs batted in.

C Matt Colantonio reinstated from the disabled list. Colantonio, 23, had been on the disabled list since August 28. In 44 games, he has a .255 average with no home runs and 11 runs batted in.

IF BJ Guinn transferred from Fort Wayne to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore. Guinn, 23, hit .210 with one triple and three RBI in 19 games with the TinCaps this season.

RHP Colin Rea transferred from Fort Wayne to Short-Season A Eugene. Rea, 22, went 5-10 with a 4.11 ERA in 21 games with Fort Wayne, 19 of them starts.

C Chris O'Dowd transferred from Fort Wayne to Short-Season A Eugene. O'Dowd, 21, joined the Fort Wayne roster on August 28. In three games he went 1-for-6, walking three times and striking out once.

The TinCaps roster stands at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
