TinCaps Win Series, But Lose in Finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Center fielder Jeisson Rosario walked three times for the fourth time in five games on Thursday Night at Parkview Field, but the TinCaps fell, 10-1, to the Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers).

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Center fielder Jeisson Rosario walked three times for the fourth time in five games on Thursday Night at Parkview Field, but the TinCaps fell, 10-1, to the Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers).

Great Lakes (3-8) was aided by a tremendous start from Jesus Vargas, who went five innings without allowing a hit. He ended his night with five strikeouts, while walking three.
The Loons started the scoring in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Romer Cuadrado walked on four pitches to bring in Fort Wayne native Zach McKinstry to give the Loons a 1-0 lead. TinCaps starter Mason Thompson walked five batters in the first inning, while allowing three runs.
Great Lakes scored two more runs in the second inning off of a two-run home run by Nick Yarnall. Great Lakes added four more runs in the third inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead.
Fort Wayne (4-10) did not collect a hit until the bottom of the sixth inning. Designated hitter Gabriel Arias grounded a ball up the middle for the first hit of the night.
The next batter, right fielder Jack Suwinski , got the TinCaps on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Rosario and cutting the Loons deficit to 10-1.
Fort Wayne added one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Suwinski RBI double over the head of right fielder Romer Cuadrado.
Suwinski ended the night 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
