Dust Devils Announce 2020 Coaching Staff

The Tri-City Dust Devils and San Diego Padres are proud to announce the Dust Devils' coaching staff for the 2020 season! This season the Dust Devils will welcome a new manager for the first time since the 2018 season. Vinny Lopez joins the Dust Devils as the teams 4th manager

The Tri-City Dust Devils and San Diego Padres are proud to announce the Dust Devils' coaching staff for the 2020 season! This season the Dust Devils will welcome a new manager for the first time since the 2018 season. Vinny Lopez joins the Dust Devils as the teams 4th manager since becoming an affiliate of the Padres in 2015. Along with Lopez the Dust Devils would like to welcome Gorman Heimueller (Pitching Coach), Raul Gonzalez (Hitting Coach), Luis Mendez (Fielding Coach), and Justin Seyler (Strength Coach). David Bryan (Athletic Trainer) makes his return to Tri-City.

Vinny Lopez joins the Dust Devils
The Tri-City Dust Devils and San Diego Padres are proud to announce the Dust Devils' coaching staff for the 2020 season! This season the Dust Devils will welcome a new manager for the first time since the 2018 season. Vinny Lopez joins the Dust Devils as the teams 4th manager since becoming an affiliate of the Padres in 2015. Along with Lopez the Dust Devils would like to welcome Gorman Heimueller (Pitching Coach), Raul Gonzalez (Hitting Coach), Luis Mendez (Fielding Coach), and Justin Seyler (Strength Coach). David Bryan (Athletic Trainer) makes his return to Tri-City.
Vinny Lopez joins the Dust Devils having previously managed the Padre's Rookie-level affiliate in Peoria, AZ for the last two seasons. Prior to his time in AZ, Lopez spent time in Fort Wayne as the hitting coach during the 2016 season. "I look forward to partnering with the Tri-City front office, staff, and players to provide a memorable 2020 season," said Lopez. "I have heard great things about the community and support from the fan base. We are working tirelessly with our coaching staff to put an exciting brand of baseball on the field. Opening day will be here before we know it and I cannot wait to get started!"
After holding the title of the Padres roving Pitching instructor Gorman Heimueller makes his return to Tri-City after a brief stint with the team in 2017. Raul Gonzalez comes to the Dust Devils in his 4th year with the Padres organization, previously serving as the hitting coach for the AZL Padres from 2017-2019. Luis Mendez makes his coaching debut with the Dust Devils.
"The Dust Devils are excited to welcome our new coaching staff into our community this summer," says Dust Devils VP-General Manager, Derrel Ebert. "We look forward to working with our Manager Vinny Lopez as we defend our Northwest League North Division Championship and create another fun season of Dust Devils baseball."
2018-2019 Dust Devils Manager Mike McCoy has been promoted for the 2020 season as he takes over the reins for the Padres Class A Advanced Affiliate, Lake Elsinore Storm. The Dust Devils would like to wish him all the best as he climbs the MiLB ranks!
The Dust Devils capped off a spectacular 2019 season as they were crowned North Division Champions after beating the Highway 395 Rival, Spokane Indians. 87,021 fans attended games at Gesa Stadium this summer, helping to defend the title of Ballpark Digest Best Short Season - A ballpark in the country. The Dust Devils also had 9 alumni make their MLB debut during the 2019 season.
2020 marks the 20th season of Dust Devils Baseball in Tri-City, and 6th as an affiliate of the San Diego Padres. The Dust Devils Opening Day is Wednesday, June 17th against the Boise Hawks.
