The Tri-City Dust Devils (3-0) completed the road sweep over the Hillsboro Hops in the opening series of the season on Sunday with a 3-0 victory. A solo home run with two outs in the top of the eighth inning from Steven Rivas broke a scoreless tie, giving the Dust Devils a lead they would not relinquish.
The pitching staff was again superb for Tri-City. Adam Seminaris, Robinson Pina, Dylan King and Nathan Burns combined to limit the Hops to only four hits. Over the final two games of the series, Tri-City allowed just seven total hits to Hillsboro. The sweep is the first for the Dust Devils since the 2019 season.
Monday will be an off day before the Dust Devils return to Gesa Stadium for the home opener on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canadians to start a six-game series. The first home game of the season on April 12 will feature a Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by Tri-Cities Community Health and a Post-Game Fireworks Show thanks to CO-Energy.
