History was made at Gesa Stadium on Saturday night as the Tri-City Dust Devils (8-8) threw a combined no-hitter in the 5-0 win over the Everett AquaSox (8-8). Jason Blanchard, Ramon Perez, Dom DiSabatino and Deacon Medders combined to throw the third no-hitter in team history.
Kelvin Melean had an incredible impact on the game in his return to the Dust Devils. In addition to producing two hits, he made a diving play at third base to rob Everett's Robert Perez of a hit for the final out of the top of the seventh inning.
The no-hitter is the first in the Northwest League since 2015 and the 43rd in the league's history. The first no-hitter for the Tri-City took place in the team's inaugural season in 2001 when Kip Bouknight and Patrick Lynch combined for a perfect game. The most recent no-hitter for the Dust Devils came in 2013 when Sam Moll, Shane Broyles, Jerad McCrummen and Trent Daniel combined to achieve the feat.
Left-hander Ethan Elliott will start the rubber match of the three-game series for the Dust Devils. The AquaSox will counter with right-hander Tim Elliott. On Sunday prior to the game from 4-6 p.m. kids ages 4-12 are invited to participate in our Youth Baseball Clinic thanks to The Batters Box. Great seats are available by calling the team's office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
