Tulsa Drillers outfielder Jacob Scavuzzo has been named the Texas League Player of the Month for July. Scavuzzo had a monster month, hitting .349 with 10 home runs while knocking in 30 runs.
Scavuzzo was one of the hottest hitters in Minor League Baseball. He hit safely in 23 of the 26 games that he started in July, including a 21-game hitting-streak which was just six games shy of the all-time Drillers record. For the month, he led the Texas League in extra-base hits (18), total bases (75), home runs (10), RBI (30), slugging (.708) and OPS (1.090). He finished third in average (.349) and in hits (37).
After Scavuzzo brought home the Texas League Player of the Week honors for the week of July 16-22, the hits kept coming. Overall, the 2018 campaign is the best of Scavuzzo's minor league career is the best since hitting .308 with 13 homers and 49 RBI with Rancho Cucamonga in 2015.
For the season, Scavuzzo is hitting .298 with 18 homers and 62 RBI. He has hit safely in 34 of his past 37 games and is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.
