Hartford Yard Goats Name the Mascot Contest

July 14, 2015

HARTFORD, Conn - The Hartford Yard Goats, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, announced that fans will have the opportunity to name the Yard Goats first ever mascot in a contest that will take place from now until Tuesday, July 21st. Fans are encouraged to visit the website www.yardgoatsbaseball.com to view the silhouette and submit their name suggestions for the 7 foot Character. The Yard Goats mascot will represent the club in the community and of course, cheer on the Yard Goats during each home game at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The fan whose submission leads to the mascot's name will receive two Hartford Yard Goats Season Tickets for the inaugural season in 2016 and be part of the mascot's announcement event in the fall.

Last week, the Yard Goats unveiled their identity in front of a jam packed house of fans and media at the spacious XL Center Lobby in downtown Hartford. Royal Blue and Kelly Green make up the club's new official colors, paying tribute to Hartford's rich sports history. The Yard Goat chewing a broken baseball bat is the club's primary logo.

"Our mascot will be a very important part of the Hartford Yard Goats identity. Our new mascot will represent and capture the fun and excitement that fans of all ages will have at Dunkin' Donuts Park," said Yard Goats General Manager Tim Restall.

Fans were also asked to be part of the exciting "Name the Team Contest" in February and more than 35,000 votes suggested almost 6,000 unique names in a month-long contest.
