April 25, 2013

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 24, 2013) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted center fielder Adam Heisler to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem today, the second Intimidator to make the move up this season. Heisler hit .324 (22-68) with a home run and nine RBI, reaching base safely in all 19 games he played for Kannapolis, tying for the longest streak in the South Atlantic League this season. Heisler also scored 15 runs, tying for sixth-most on the circuit. The White Sox signed him as a free agent in August of 2011, and he finished his 2012 campaign in Kannapolis, appearing in 35 games for the Intimidators.

In a corresponding move, the Intimidators received outfielder Ruben Sierra Jr., son of 20-year Major League veteran and former MLB All-Star Ruben Sierra, from Extended Spring Training. He spent three years in the Texas Rangers farm system (2009-11), batting .244 with six home runs and 48 RBI in 98 games before playing seven games last season for the independent Normal Cornbelters.

Pitcher Storm Throne also joins Kannapolis from extended spring today. The White Sox 25th round selection in the June 2012 draft made his professional debut last year with Advanced Rookie Bristol, going 2-2 with an 8.38 ERA (18 ER/19.1 IP). Relief pitcher Michael Gunter, who appeared in four games for the Intimidators, was released.

The Intimidators wrap up tonight's three-game series against the Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves) at 7:05 p.m. For ticket information, please contact the F&M Bank Box Office at (704) 932-3267 or visit our website at www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com
