Souza Homers in 5-3 Loss to Bowie

June 20, 2013

Bowie, MD - Steven Souza, Jr. hit a solo homer, but the Senators fell 5-3 to the Bowie Baysox in the series finale, missing a chance to sweep.

Harrisburg jumped ahead right away on Jimmy Van Ostrand's RBI ground out in the first inning. Bowie responded in the bottom half with one of its own, as Henry Urrutia delivered an RBI double. Urrutia later blasted a two-run homer in the fifth.

Down 4-1 in the sixth, Souza led off with a deep home run to center, his seventh of the season. He had three hits on the night, coming a triple short of the cycle. Ricky Hague came up with an RBI single in the eighth to bring the Senators within two, but their comeback attempt fell short. Harrisburg left 12 men on base, twice stranding the bases loaded, including in the ninth inning.

Brian Ward went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a run scored for Bowie. Harrisburg's Brian Goodwin was 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, his fourth consecutive multi-hit game.

Tyler Wilson tossed six innings and surrendered six hits and two runs to earn the win for the Baysox.

Tomorrow, the Senators return home to open a three-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
