Mehring Monday: Perspective
That picture up top was the scene outside the club level at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium when I got into work this morning.
The sky - while gray - was not pitch black. This tells me that the Sun did come up today.
The snow - which covered the entire field when I left work on Friday - has ebbed. Yes, those greenish patches are grass.
I even kind of made a joke on Twitter this morning.
It's all about perspective…or, moving on to the next thing to be more exact. Crushing, I mean, soul-crushing losses are nothing new to me. Especially when you consider the teams for which I cheer.
You notice I haven't mentioned which soul-crushing loss by score, name, or anything else. I can't. If I start to type it, I fear my fingers would press right through my keyboard and I can't afford to break this computer. I just got it.
The end of one season rolls right into the preparation for the next. As I get ready to post this week's column, the Timber Rattlers home opener is in 82 days and 22 hours. It's not that far away.
Unfortunately, as I get ready to post this week's column, it has begun to snow again.
Baseball, get here soon!
